Peter Holloran

Peter Holloran has more than 40 years’ experience in communications and marketing, thirty of which have been dedicated fully to the service of educational institutions.  Peter is deeply committed to the development of authentic and powerful institutional identities and strong and consistent institutional expression. He joined Stevens Strategy in 2022 as our Senior Consultant for Strategic Communication & Brand Development.  In 1993, he founded Cognitive Marketing Inc. The firm began exclusively serving colleges, universities and schools in 1998.  There, Peter developed the Market Voicingsm Brand Development Process, specifically designed to meet the needs of educational institutions. Market Voicing is designed to strengthen an educational institution’s organizational identity and voice to the benefit of admissions, advancement, alumni relations and faculty and staff recruitment, and to win the approval of the institution’s numerous stakeholder groups in the process.  Peter worked with 30 colleges and universities and 16 independent secondary institutions at Cognitive Marketing; among them are Gettysburg College, Georgian Court University, Hudson Valley Community College, Juniata College, Keuka College, Millersville University of Pennsylvania, Nazareth College, The College of New Jersey (TCNJ), New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), and St. Thomas University (New Brunswick, CA); as well as Columbus Academy (Ohio), Friends School of Baltimore, Holy Child School at Rosemont (PA), North County School (Lake Placid, NY), Rye Country Day School, and The Harley School and  Hochstein School of Music & Dance (both in Rochester, NY).  His early career included worked  at General Electric Company’s famed in-house Advertising & Sales Promotion Operation. He later built an in-house Marketing Operation at the National Flood Insurance Program in Washington, DC and served in account supervision positions at ad agencies BBDO and Young & Rubicam.  Peter is a graduate of Gettysburg College, (BA English) and Syracuse University’s Newhouse School (MS Advertising).
